Warehouse Striping Can Save You Money

Warehouse Striping Can Save you money

When was the last time you looked around your warehouse and thought I could get more use from my space.  Chances are it wasn’t to long ago and your still thinking about it.  Trueline Striping has been striping warehouses for over 20 years and knows how to get more from that space for you.  With warehouse striping you can really increase not only the space in your facility ,but you can improve the safety and appearance of your warehouse areas.

The Process of Warehouse Striping

When Trueline Striping is hired to install striping in  a warehouse its typically pallet staging, numbering and stenciling.  These types of concrete painted lines are designed to help your employees organize your inventory to get the maximum use from your facility.   Sometimes when our customers have forklifts they ask us to install acid resistant floor coatings under there battery charging stations to prevent acid from destroying their concrete.  Another common request we get is to install OSHA related safety lines.  Lines like these are designed to create safe walking zones throughout the warehouse for visiting guest or employees from other areas of operations that may not realize that they are in a dangerous work area.  The lines create borders and zones that can be color coded or stenciled with a message or warning.  Another typical Warehouse Striping application would be rat run striping lines.  These lines are installed on the border edges or walls of the facility and are required by law whenever food is stored of any kind in a facility.

  • Water base Paint:  Best used for exterior line painting applications such as truck stall parking, parking stall striping, and stencils and markers ie. stop, arrow and handicap parking.
  • Oil Base Paints: Oil base paints are one of the best paints to use to gain a little more durability over a typical water based paint. oil base paints are also know for there drying characteristics. A great place we recommend oil base paints would be in  shopping centers and parking situations that need there parking lots open fast.  Here at Trueline we like to use oil base paints to repaint curbs and fire lines in shopping centers and home owner associations.  They are stronger than there water based cousin and last longer as well.  Add in the fast drying time and you can see why they are so popular with wise parking lot striping companies.
  • Urethane Enamel: Urethane paints are designed to stand up to harsh weather conditions such as long term exposure to sun, rain and other exposure issues.  This paint product is highly recommended for metal bollards, guard rails, loading docks, hand railings and sign post.
  • Epoxy Coatings: This type of coating is a very durable coating. This coating is best used in heavy commercial and industrial applications.  It’s a 2 part paint system that is designed to be used indoors and hold up under the harshest conditions.  This paint product is ideal for warehouse floor striping and also floor coating like battery acid resistant applications.

Warehouse Floor Painting / Warehouse Floor Striping Contractors? Maybe, Maybe Not!

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The service goes by many names such as Warehouse Floor Striping, Warehouse Floor Painting, Floor Painting, Warehouse Line Striping, plus many more. Its similar to painting parking lots in that you are basically measuring out lines and painting them down.  However, the similarities end there.  Warehouse Striping is a far more complex project to undertake then parking lot striping with factors to consider such as, product choices, product pot life, timing, drying times, product compatibility, and many many more.

There are a lot of contractors that will take these projects on with little to no experience or worse, they are unlicensed or un-insured. A good indicator of an unlicensed contractor is not seeing it posted on there web site or stationary. Many times, contractors will actually use another companies’ license. The easiest way to know who it belongs to is to do a search on your local state license board. In California, ours is at http://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicense/LicenseRequest.asp . You can check a license by company name, personal name ( i.e. owners name) or by contractor license number that they provide. Insurance is even easier. Simply ask for proof of insurance and then call their provider to make sure their policy is current and reflects coverage for their company.

Here are a few other State License Board Search web addresses.

  • Nevada           https://www.nvcontractorsboard.com/datamart/nvscbSearchType.do
  • Florida            https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp?mode=0&SID=
  • New York       http://www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htm
  • Washington   http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/checkstatus.html

Basically, if you need to do a search for a license, just paste the following line into your search engine and you should find your local agency.

Search Query:

(” state name” + “state license board”)

So. California would look like this:

(California State License Board)

Also, there are some states that do not have a state license board because they do not require a license to preform work.  At last, look the number was around thirteen. However, its changing a lot, so keep checking.

If you need a licensed contractor for your Warehouse Striping project, please give us a call. Not only are we licensed and insured, but we have 18 years of experience and  great customer service.

Warehouse Floor Striping Contractors Are they Licensed? Are they Experienced?

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The most important question you should ask first is this:

Is your warehouse floor striping company  a licensed contractor? and are they an experienced contractor?

That is an important question. Mainly because if your contractor is not licensed locally, and something goes wrong, it can be difficult to make that company responsible for their mistakes. Here is a quick story about a Warehouse Floor Striping Services contractor that cost their customer a lot of money.

In this story, a warehouse manager decided to hire a contractor from out of state in an effort to save money. Since labor can be cheaper and insurance and so on , some people will consider this a valid option despite the many laws that a broken along the way. This particular warehouse hired a contractor from a state out side of their own,  and agreed upon a price sight unseen. A contract was drafted and the contractor was paid half up front. The next week the project was started and finished 7 days later. These are a few of the photos that we took of the job to show you what they ended up with.

after the project got under way the warehouse manager realized the quality was not what he had expected. They could  have avoided a lot of problems by asking some basic questions up front. This is not to say that out of state  striping companies cannot do a quality job, but they should have referrals available, they should not be willing to bypass the laws regarding licensing and product use, and most importantly they should have the experience. When Trueline Striping is considering a out of state project, we do the research ahead of time for our accounts and give them a quick assessment of the cost, products, and a time frame.

Warehouse Floor Striping and Line Striping Working Together

Friday, November 21st, 2008

There are times when a business can offer you more than one plan, helping you to make your entire work area a better place. For instance, a good line striping company can not only help you to get your line striping done in your delivery area of your business, it can also help you to get your warehouse line striping done as well, allowing the warehouse floor striping to flow well into the parking lot striping so that the two work together flawlessly. But how can this work so well?

When you’ve got a warehouse, you often need to be able to have room for your employees to get to your docking area. Having striping done makes it easy to figure out where everything goes and what ways everyone is supposed to go in. When you add the parking lot striping and the unloading zone markings in with the warehouse line striping, and get it all done at the same time, the two can flow together seamlessly, making it easy for those who are working, and for those who make the deliveries, to work together so that your business keeps running smoothly.

Warehosue Striping

Warehouse Striping is a type of line painting that is usually performed using a high end two part epoxy or urethane product. Often times, warehouses need this type of striping to help keep their warehouses organized and to maximize their space. The problem with regular parking lot paint products is that they are not designed to stand up to the ware and tear of forklifts and pallet jacks. Trueline Striping uses a very strong paint product that not only holds up to this kind of abuse, but also complies with all California state laws regardsing air quality concerns.  If you have any questions regarding this type of Warehouse Floor Striping, please feel free to give us a call at 714-630-9060 or email us at This Link.

Is Warehouse Floor Striping Necessary?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Can warehouse floor striping really help you to keep things more organized in your business? That depends on the type of business you have. If you’ve got a business where you store items and you never touch them again, like a large storage facility, then warehouse floor painting may help you to stay a bit more organized, but it isn’t necessarily something that you need to implement. This, however, isn’t what the normal warehouse looks like.

The normal warehouse has deliveries and is constantly sending things out as well. Warehouse floor striping is a great way to make sure that the items in your warehouse get shipped out to the right place, and that they’re expedited correctly no matter how busy things get. Warehouse floor striping also helps pedestrian traffic to stay organized, allowing you to not have to worry as much about people getting into accidents on the floor, and making it simple for everyone to know where everything is and to go to the right section at all times. Warehouse floor striping is not only a good idea, but it’s also extremely affordable especially when you weigh the cost against messing up orders.

Warehouse Striping Contractors

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

This week Trueline did a warehouse floor striping project that was started by another contractor. Its  a long story, but the lesson is invaluable.

In this story, Trueline was hired to fix a job that had gone bad for our customer. The contractor, he originally hired asked for 50 % up front for material cost, which he was paid. Their original contractor started the project and quickly things started falling apart. The customer started asking questions and realized that their original hire was uneducated about the paint he chose to put down for them. With only 20 % of the job completed, the contractor stopped showing up and stopped answering his phone. When they tried to go after the contractor for the up front money they put up, they found out he was not a licensed contractor and that he had only a P.O. box address and a cell phone number that was now turned off. When I questioned whether they would where going to pursue it any further, they stated that the cost to sue would not be worth the time it would take to pursue it.

With the Internet becoming so popular for search, it has become more and more risky to hire a contractor. Companies can spring up over night and be gone the following month. They can look professional, have phone numbers and clean contracts. The key is doing some home work and being proactive before you start your next project.

Is Warehouse Floor Striping Really Important?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Could warehouse floor striping possible be as important as parking lot striping? On one hand, you’ve got parking lot striping, which keeps vehicles from running into each other and into pedestrians, which helps those who are driving to know where to park their car and where to enter a store. On the other side, you’ve got warehouse floor striping which is often never seen by the customer. Could it possibly be as important as parking lot striping?

Absolutely. Warehouse floor striping may not be seen by your consumers, but it is seen by your employees and is of vital importance. It helps those who are working in your warehouse to know which way to go and where to place things. Without warehouse floor striping, warehouses become a huge concrete world of chaos. You may have equipment bumping into each other and people running into things. When you have the proper warehouse floor striping done, however, you can not only make sure that your place looks great.  In case you do have consumer visitors, you can make sure that your employees have an easier time maneuvering around your warehouse so that they do not bump into anything or get harmed.

How Important is Warehouse Floor Striping?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

There have been a number of people lately asking why warehouse floor striping is important. Case in point? This email:

“I’ve got a warehouse, but everything seems to run smoothly. My employees have never complained about having a problem, and I don’t think that warehouse floor striping is a necessity for my business.”

If your warehouse is flowing smoothly right now, congratulations! Chances are fairly high, however, that the only reason that its flowing so well is because you have had the same employees there for a number of years and they know how to work well together. Add a new employee into the mix, and it may take awhile for that employee to figure out how your warehouse flows. The easiest way to make it a gentle transition for any new employee is through getting warehouse floor striping done. Warehouse floor striping is very easy to do, and can be fairly inexpensive, and can keep things much more organized than you would ever believe. If you believe warehouse striping isn’t for you, step back for a moment and think about how an employee who just joined your team would feel.

The Importance of a Warehouse

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Have you ever watched some of those television shows that demonstrate how things are made? There are a number of them, and almost all of them show the factory and how the machines are important to making things run. What they don’t show, however, is the warehouse. The items made have to be housed somewhere, and a warehouse is the ideal place to keep things. In the warehouse, though, it’s not machines that take care of business, its people, and they often need a bit more direction than machines do. Warehouse floor striping is an excellent way to make sure your employees are kept organized.

If you own a company that makes a dozen different items, you may have to store them in a dozen different places, and no matter how large the warehouse is, it can be tricky to remember where everything is. Warehouse floor striping allows you to be able to know where you’re going at all times, and directs employees so that they do not have to worry about colliding in the middle of the warehouse floor.
