A Little Help with Truncated Domes

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

When you pull into a parking garage with your vehicle, do you concern yourself with the idea that it may go somewhere? Most likely you don’t. This is because cars that are parked in a garage are parked on a very flat surface, and because wheel stops exist to help keep the cars where they are supposed to be. But when you park your car, do you even think about what it must be like for a blind or visually impaired person? These people have a hard time seeing anything and sometimes need a little help in the form of truncated domes.

Truncated domes are designed to help the visually impaired much in the same way that wheel stops are designed to help the average person. They are created to help the person to “see” where the pavement is changing with their feet, giving them the ability to walk without having to worry that they will accidentally step into traffic in a parking garage or outside of one. Truncated domes are very easy to have installed and can save you tons of money and worry as well. So the next time you park, think about how much the little things around you help you on a daily basis.

Parking Lot Striping and Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Monday, September 29th, 2008

There are some people who have recently been in a parking lot and were surprised at the color choice. Pink. The entire parking lot striping was done in pink and they were unable to understand why that choice was made. One reason could have been because it is national Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Chances are high that the parking lot owner decided to show their support by repainting the lines temporarily for the month of October. This can be done and is not only a great way to show support, but an excellent marketing gimmick as well.

Having your parking lot striping temporarily changed is easier than having it done permanently. A professional can use a paint that will adhere but will be easy to cover over after the month of October was done. There are a number of different months that you could do this for, and it may make sense to have a different color striping done every month, to not only amaze and amuse your customers but also to make your parking lot look great and fresh every month.

Parking Lot Striping for Smaller Cars

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

One of the good things that is coming out of the oil situation going on now is that many people are discovering that they can exist using a smaller vehicle than they currently have. They don’t like filling up their gas guzzlers, so they choose instead to buy smaller cars that are more fuel efficient. What does this mean for the parking lot owner? Not much. Unless, of course, you have a parking lot that is designed with the parking lot striping to fit much larger vehicles. Some older parking lots are created for only big vehicles, when there is plenty of room to fit more cars if you just get the striping redone in a different way.

Parking lot striping that has been done for larger cars can take up a lot of space, and if you have a parking lot that looks like this you may want to have the parking lot redone. A professional can reassess your parking lot and can show you where you can get more room squeaked out and where you should keep the path clear. They can help you put in truncated domes or warning mats and can make your parking lot look absolutely amazing.

Truncated Domes and Tax Write-Off’s

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

If you’re like the rest of us, you probably are concerned with spending money right now. Let’s face it: the economy is not in a very good place and it makes sense to be a bit wary about spending money on things that you don’t believe you need done. This is one reason that many people are holding off on getting parking lot striping done or in getting truncated domes. The thing is, however, that you can not only get these things done to make sure that they look good, you can also get them done and use them as a tax right off.

If you have a business that has a parking lot, you need to have parking lot striping that looks good and is done correctly. You should also have truncated domes to help those who are visually impaired. When you put these both in at the same time, you should be able to claim it as a tax write off, and at a time like this it is a very good idea to get as many tax write off’s as you possibly can for your business!

Waiting in Long Lines?

Friday, September 19th, 2008

What happens when you drive or fly to a huge amusement park like Disney Land or Disney World? You get all excited, get your tickets, and stand in a very, very long line. It can be very annoying to stand in a huge line, especially when you’re excited about something or in a hurry. If you have your parking lot striping done incorrectly, your customers may be standing in a large line waiting and getting frustrated. If, however, you do like the big amusement parks do and hire someone who knows how to do a layout correctly, your customers will be able to drive in, park, and exit without running into any snags.

Having the correct parking lot striping in your lot is just as important as having a beautiful display up in your window. It brings in customers and it helps people to not only find you but to want to return to your store. Instead of hiring a company who just lays down lines and is done with you, make sure you hire a company who is interested in making sure that your parking lot runs smoothly and efficiently.

Is Warehouse Floor Striping Really Important?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Could warehouse floor striping possible be as important as parking lot striping? On one hand you’ve got parking lot striping, which keeps vehicles from running into each other and pedestrians and which helps those who are driving to know where to park their car and where to enter a store. On the other side you’ve got warehouse floor striping which is often never seen by the customer. Could it possibly be as important as parking lot striping?

Absolutely. Warehouse floor striping may not be seen by your consumers, but it is seen by your employees and is of vital importance. It helps those who are working in your warehouse to know which way to go and where to place things. Without warehouse floor striping, warehouses become a huge concrete world of chaos. You may have equipment bumping into each other and people running into things. When you have the proper warehouse floor striping done, however, you can not only make sure that your place looks great in case you do have consumer visitors, you can make sure that your employees have an easier time maneuvering around your warehouse so that they do not bump into anything or get harmed.

The Size of Cars and Parking Lot Striping

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Vehicles are getting…well…smaller. Since the gas situation has been going on, more and more people are going to smaller cars. This can present a problem to some businesses. In larger vehicles, it is easier to see the ground because of the way you are up high. Smaller vehicles, however, are closer to the ground, and while both can see the parking lot striping from a distance, those who are sitting up higher can often see what’s right beneath their tires much easier. If you have your parking lot set up in a tricky fashion, you may find that those who have smaller cars now are having a more difficult time figuring out where to go in your parking lot.

You may want to consider not only having your parking lot striping redone, but having signs put up. Signs are easily seen by any size vehicle and are a great way to keep your parking lot organized. When you have a professional change the layout of your parking lot and also have them put in signs you will find that your customers have a much easier time finding their way around, no matter what sized car they drive!

Curb Painting Only LOOKS Easy…

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Curb painting looks easy, right? You just buy some stencils, a few cans of spray paint and go at it. The problem, however, is that there are specific requirements that have to be met and upheld. Those who violate the terms can find themselves in a great deal of trouble. It’s like putting in truncated domes: it looks easy and simple and like something anyone can do, but there is much more to it.

Like truncated domes, curb painting needs to be done by a professional. A professional will know exactly what should be done and where everything should be placed in your area. They will know what type of paint should be used and what colors will be best seen from the road. They will also know all of the rules in the area and will make sure that they get things correct for you the first time. Remember: if you try to paint the curb by yourself and make a mistake, it’s almost impossible to fix it without having it look absolutely horrible.

Parking Lot Striping and Accidents

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Have you ever taken the time to grab one of those celebrity tabloids off of the side of a rack at the grocery store? Don’t be ashamed: all of us do it occasionally. These tabloids talk a lot about celebrities getting into car accidents, but it’s not just celebrities who do, it’s regular people. Many of them get into car accidents because they’re not able to see the parking lot striping by a store or because the striping is not done correctly, making it almost impossible to get into the slot that is your space. This is a huge problem especially in California, where space is often limited.

If you have a business in a busy area, you may want to make sure that your parking lot striping is not only done correctly but is up to date. Parking lot striping that has faded and is difficult to see is just as responsible for accidents as having no parking lot striping, so make sure you redo the striping at least twice a year or more. Also, make sure you hire a professional, as doing it yourself may cause more harm than good.

Curb Painting for the Work At Home Person

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Not many people have the ability to work at home, but those few who do find that it is like nothing else. They love being able to work in their pajamas or to take a few hours here and there to do their errands. One of the problems with having an at home business, however, is that you may have a hard time getting delivery people or customers to find where you live. When you’re in an office, you never have to worry about that. Living and working out of your home, however, can make things much difficult, which is why curb painting is often a good idea for a person who works at home.

When you have curb painting done you are essentially painting the curb of the street with the number of your house and possibly even the name of the street. This allows those who are driving by you to be able to tell easily which house you have and exactly where you live. Curb painting, however, should be done by professionals, as there are a number of rules and tricks of the trade that only a professional would have knowledge of.
