Parking lot striping – Watch the lines, follow them please

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

An indication of how much attention has been paid to detail will be visible from the parking lot of a building. If the parking lot striping has been done in a hap hazard manner, it would not create a good impression. Whereas, if we were to drive into a campus where everything is neat and clean and the parking lot has clear markings, it would give us the opinion that the interiors are bound to be better. Some buildings have tar coated flooring outside in the parking lot along with neat images or directions on where to go. There will be arrows indicating the direction to drive in, so you can navigate your way around and find yourself a parking spot.

When we see clear parking lot striping, it means that the company who did the job was a professional. The lines would all be even and absolutely straight. And each car will have just about enough space to pull in and park. In most places it is parallel parking system that is followed to maximize space and not cause hindrance to other cars that drive through. These are all a sign of quality and dedication from the administration team.

Curb Painting - Serious and with a purpose.

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

In one country you might find the curbs painted in black and white, whereas in another country you are bound to see something different. This is because different countries have different policies regarding curb painting. There are some towns where the size and width of the painting on the curb is specified. This makes it difficult for the person who’s taken up the task of putting down the addresses as they need to be very specific. And in case they don’t follow the guidelines, they are bound to lose their job and might have to pay a fine. No matter what is painted on the curb, it is the painters fault and not the home owners’.

Some people are very wary of curb painting students, and they are justified in this. It is so because if the painting is not done correctly, they could end up searching for the person who did it.. For the student, it would have simply been a hobby or part time project and he might not even be from that locality. In such cases, the home owner will have to spend on clearing this paint and getting a fresh one done which would take time.

Parking lot painting – Drive in and find your space

Monday, November 26th, 2007

For all those who live in huge apartment complexes, they will be aware of the problems pertaining to parking they face everyday. Some of the owners will randomly park their car in any available. Or they might not have a fixed parking lot and so will park wherever there is a free spot, blocking another car’s way. Such people make it a nightmare for the others who are organized and systematic and believe in using only their parking space. It is for the benefit of the owners of the lots that parking lot painting has been carried out. In apartment complexes we will find each lot with the alphabet and corresponding number of the flat who owns that space. This makes it easy for new residents to identify the parking spaces and find their own.

The same holds true for large office buildings. There might be some with office blocks on top floors and shopping in the ground floor. People who visit the stores might want to park their vehicle near the store, but that spot might belong to an employee of one of the companies. The parking lot painting will display the name of the person and their company.

Curb Painting - Seek and find on the curb

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Curb painting is not as easy as it sounds, or looks. In fact it involves a lot of preparation and planning before one can get down to the actual painting. The local corporation body controls this project so they can keep watch on the quality of paint jobs carried out. They will also be able to identify the painters who are doing a good job and those who aren’t. The curbs that have been painted need to be touched upon every couple of weeks to make sure the numbers don’t fade away. Also the colors used need to be white and black only so they are visible and easily readable.

The numbers written on the curb indicate the address of the house right next to it, and this serves as a guide for people new to the town. In case a person is searching for a house; they can follow the curb painting and find their way. There are some roads where the curbs are simply painted black and white. This is an indication for the vehicles on the road to be aware of the curb and not try to squeeze in through the gap in the street corner.

Wheel stops – Proceed no further

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Imagine you are driving into a restaurant and have found a parking space. It is near the garden, and will maneuver your car till your hit something that stops you in your tracks. Not to worry, these are wheel stops that have been planted to give you an indication of how far you can go. Made of concrete and usually constructed on the ground surface, these bar like devices act as stops. They help drivers park their car away from the building or walls. Since they are made of either concrete or recycled blocks, they are sturdy and can stand any amount of weight thrust against them. It is also a one time installation unless the layout of the space is going to change.

Available in different colors, these wheel stops are placed strategically to enable the drivers control their cars. They are weather proof and can stand any amount of heat or cold, and rains too. If the car parking lots are big, there might be one long bar of wheel stopper or there could be smaller ones that suit individual cars. They also won’t fade away or break with wear and tear, so absolutely no maintenance is required.

Curb Painting - Paint and earn some extra

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

If you could paint the curbs on your street and earn some money, wouldn’t that make life easier? Well, this is at thought that enters most college student’s mind when they are looking for a way to make some extra money. If they are interested in working couple of hours every day painting curbs, they could manage to save up enough to buy whatever they have been longing for. All they need to do, is approach the local governing board, and make an application. Once this is cleared, they will officially have a permit and can go about painting the curbs around their neighborhood. They can even try their luck in other neighborhoods, if they home owners have no problem, they have the chance to earn more money.

Curb painting involves painting the curbs in front of the houses with the address numbers. No other patterns, or advertisement are allowed on these and one must follow the rules laid down by the board on the same. If they are able to complete the given task in lesser hours, they not only have earned enough but have some free time as well to either go catch a game or head home.

Parking lot striping – Slide into your spot, for best effects

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

After a long at the office, we look forward to heading home and possibly going out for a movie with our family or friends. The drive in theater is is a great choice for its type of relaxation. Since a drive in theater has multiple rows for cars to be parked, systematic parking lot striping can be seen here. This enables the cars to slide into their place and fit right in next to the speakers. If they do a little bit of miscalculation, they might drive straight into the speaker pole. When they are in their correct parking space, they also get a good view of the screen and amazing effects from the stereo systems placed next to the windows.

In parking lot striping, since the project is given to a government authorized company, they know what the colors to use are and how to paint. Some places might have double lines, while others will have single lines in yellow to differentiate the parking lots. If we were to observe the parking lots in office buildings, we would notice enough space allocated for the cars and between the rows for other cars to drive through.

Traffic sign installation – Watch and drive

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Just like we have rules to run our lives, we must have appropriate traffic signs to run our streets. The STOP signs, NO PARKING sign and other signs need to be installed in correct locations to help people stay safe. Not only this, but authorities must make sure that traffic sign installation has been completed in a locality before opening it to the public. This will keep the drivers in that locality informed of all the facilities, restrictions to be adhered to and help them plan their route.

If a road is ONE WAY, then there must be a sign at the entry of the road to warn the vehicles coming towards it, and also give directions to help them get around. Similarly, if there is a road where repair work is underway, there must be a sign installed “Detour”, so drivers will not get stuck but find an alternative route. Galvanized steel posts with visible colors of red and blue are typically used in the traffic signs and there are some overhead boards which might be in green colour. This is so they are legible and clearly visible, for a driver from quite a distance as well.

Wheel stops – Stop right here please

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Just like how a door stopper is used to stop movement of a door in the house, the wheel stops are used to stop cars and other big vehicles. These are used as a safety precaution in buildings where there are lawns or parks near the parking area. In places like hospitals or schools, where the park or play ground is likely to be right next to the parking lot, multiple such stoppers are required to control the movement of the cars. If a parent is in the school to pick up their child, they will want to park the car in a safe place and then go to get their child. If they are not careful, the vehicle could move into the play area making it unsafe for the children playing nearby.

Similarly, in hospitals where there are patients flowing in and out at all hours, it is essential for the parking lots to be equipped with bright colored wheel stops. These will ensure that the vehicles coming in are parked in their rightful places and not any further. Keeping the environment safe for people to move around in is the main purpose of these sturdy brick stoppers.

Parking lot painting - Watch the lettering and park

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Most of the parking lots today have clear parking lot painting which is visible from quite a distance. So when a person is pulling into the spot, he or shee will know if it is meant for them or to somebody else. This will help keep chaos at bay and avoid unnecessary confusion. The painting might be put in place for a physically handicapped person, which is why it is ideally near the entrance. And so, only people with the handicap placards should park their car. There is no point in a physically able person parking his vehicle there and arguing that he will leave within a couple of minutes.

Also, in hospitals, if we notice, there will be a specific parking lot painting displaying “Ambulances only”, and this means others should not park there. Even if there is no ambulance in sight, it does not give the others permission to use the space. Such paintings have been put in place for people to be aware of them and to understand the purpose behind the same. If an ambulance where to rush into the hospital, then there would be a team of doctors waiting near that particular parking space to attend to the patient.
