Parking lot painting – Adequate space and neat indications

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Parking lots can make a great first impression to a first time visitor or the location. If the lot has adequate spaces to suit the needs of compact cars, SUVs, Vans, Truck and short term parking, and it is neatly painted then people are more likely to feel good about the safety of their car and themselves as they drive through the parking lot.

Parking lot paintings could also display signs such as “No Parking” or “delivery area” or “parking only for 10 minutes” which give you an idea as to where you can park your vehicle. In theaters, where there is  some who drive in only to buy tickets, there are parking spaces for couple of minutes and if they are there to watch a show, they need to park along with other movie goers. All the signs must clearly indicate the message and should be adhered to avoid confusion and chaos from breaking out.

Wheel stops - The wheel stops right here.

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

In order to protect the pavement and to prevent people from parking their vehicles too close to the curb, wheel stops have been created and put in place. These are basically used to stop the vehicle from going any further, just as the name states, to stop the wheel. In case of buildings which have a huge parking lot and plants have been planted near the lot, there will be ample stops provided to protect the plants from getting run over. Made from recycled rubber or plastic, these stops are installed near the curb and found in almost all lots.

The wheel stops are at times painted in bright colors so the driver will notice them. And they are strong and sturdy and will not erode or break easily. These are very easy to install and is a one time investment lasting for years to come. All that is needed to plant them firmly on the ground are a couple of bolts and maybe mounting plates. They come in different colors and can be placed where parking is possible. Being light weight it makes it all the more easier to fix them onto the ground, be it concrete or otherwise.

Curb Painting – Numbers on the walls of the road

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

When walking along the street, we notice different numbers and names painted on the walls near the pavements. These are called curb painting and are a way of indicating what the road is or the building near it is and made using concrete or asphalt these are right next to the sidewalk, and are like a small raised wall. Towards the end of the road or near a drive way, we will notice that the curb will slope downwards and meet the roads, this is called a curb cut. The curb is also the reason why many accidents are avoided, especially for those on the bikes.

There are some curb painting that display the name of the house or the door number in bold visible fonts for passerby to identify the address. There are also curbs that are painted in bright red to indicate a no parking zone, and similarly there are other colors for different kinds of parking practices. Just by looking at the color, one can identify the zone and park accordingly. Curb painting is becoming a popular business these days with people taking it up as a part time employment and earning decent incomes through the same.

Friday, October 19th, 2007

For a person to take up curb painting as a business or for students who want to get into a part time job, they will first need to get the permission of the residents in the area. One must note that only addresses cane be painted on the curb and that too, in large legible patterns. Training is given to those interested to master this art and through this, they can earn their income. There are certain rules to be followed such as the height of the numbers, painted must be 4inches at least, and the colors of black or white can only be used. If the number is painted incorrectly, changes need to be made within couple of days or else they could get into trouble.

Advertisements are not to be painted, as these are violation of the law. During the curb painting process and afterwards, the people who have taken up this contract need to carry with them the permit documents. This is to make sure that there are no illegal curb painters about. Unless permission has been given by the home or office owner one can’t paint any other signs or numbers on the curb.

Talking about creative ways to earn some pocket money should include taking up curb painting projects. All it requires is a couple of hours every week and the ability to travel from one area to the other. A person needs basic paints, black and white color, and a good stencil and of course, the permission from the home owners to paint their curb. Once these are obtained, one can go about painting the numbers on the curbs. But, they need to make sure to adhere to the font and style allowed as people might follow the numbers on the curb when in search of a house.

The curb painting tools and technique are in fact taught in many small institutions where they guide people on various options available to earn a little extra income. Especially for students, if they are given, it is a motivational factor and they learn to deal with different kinds of people. Spending minimum time and making good money is what makes this a fun job for many. If the person is able to put in more hours, the amount he can earn at the end of the week could be what some make in a month.
