Parking lot painting – Mark space for those who deserve.

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

While driving on the road, we come across many signs, which tell us what direction to follow or if the road is One way or No entry. These help us in driving and following the guidelines is one way of preventing accidents and maintaining smooth flow of traffic. Similarly, in building or shopping complex, if the parking lot paintings are done with care, it will give clear directions to the drivers as to where to go to park their vehicles. Sometimes, they might be marked with names of people who have reserved the parking space and other times, general instructions.

If outside a hospital, one sees the sign “Physically handicapped persons only”, then it means they are the only ones who can park there. It has been marked in such a way that they will be able to park their vehicle and easily access the entrance of the building. The others will have to park in the general parking lot. Such indications are meant for making life easy for people and also to bring about some form of system while visiting offices or hospitals. The same rule applies to complexes, which have parking lot paintings etched in bold letters.

Traffic sign installation – Directions and guidelines displayed on the streets

Traffic sign installation
is the duty of the city council and is a way to ensure that there is an organized manner followed while driving and otherwise. Care must be taken to provide ample signs around the city and near the crossroads for people to watch out for. The STOP signs we notice in a red background is an indication for us to stop and not proceed further. Some of the other noted sign boards are NO ENTRY, this could be due to some construction or repair work on that road or it could be a one way street. People have become tuned to all these signs and so today look forward to them as it helps them drive better and reach their destination faster.

If the Traffic sign installation is not completed, but vehicles start plying on the road, there would be no order or system. These signs are typically made of metal or wood and are used to guide drivers on where they can park, cannot park, hotels are, nearest service station is, or hospital zone so please don’t honk, etc. Each of the traffic signs are put in place, keeping in mind the purpose it needs to serve.

Parking lot striping – Drive in and slide into a free space.

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

When a person pulls into the parking lot, they expect to see clear markings on where they can place their vehicles so they can pull out easily as well. For this purpose parking lot striping is done by the road authorities. The color used is one that will remain bright for a long time and not get faded or erase with time or repeatedly being driven over. Once the paint job has been completed, the parking lot doesn’t really need much of maintenance except for the routine cleaning to ensure the surrounding areas are kept clean.

In most buildings we would find parking lot striping done with labels to denote who gets to park their car where. This is more visible in offices or hospitals where there are reserved parking lots for the employees. Also for handicapped people, there are specifically marked lots and similarly for bigger vehicles there are separate ones. This makes driving and parking the vehicle convenient. Also keeping in mind the safety factor, the person in charge of marking the lots will leave adequate space between two car parking spots. This will give enough room for the persons in the vehicle to get in and out.

Parking lot striping – Parking was never so much fun

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

When driving to an office or a shopping mall, if the parking lot is filled with cars all parked in an organized manner, it sure makes one smile and relaxes knowing they are bound to find parking space. If in case it was all haphazard, it would lead to complete chaos. The only way parking lots are kept in order is by doing a systematic parking lot striping job. If the correct amount of space is marked and lines are marked, the cars will all be able to neatly slide into the place. This will help in saving space and making maximum utilization of space available.

Parking lot striping is done by those who have taken the contract and are approved by the city council. The color they use is mostly yellow which has again been the one followed for years together. The striping is usually done at that time of the day when there is not much of traffic, which means they can mark plenty of roads instead of waiting for the rush hour to clear out. The same rules apply all over the country and so it is a uniformed mode of striping the parking lots outside malls, hospitals, offices and even on roads.

Parking lot painting - Watch the symbols and play along

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

What makes parking lot painting something far different from the basic “Striping” is that the latter is to indicate the area where you park your car from where I park my car. A basic line or divider. Painting though, are the signs that symbolize why exactly you have to park your car in those columns instead of near the entrance and other such instructions. It’s those signs that allocate the areas of the parking lot, for employees, handicapped people, etc.

For example, the use of parking lot paintings outside a grocery store, the parking nearest to the entrance and exit will be a space solely reserved for handicapped people. Parking just behind the store will most likely be allotted to employees. But, in case of a building where there are both offices and places of entertainment, the parking lots will be divided into parking space for office employees and for the others visiting the premises.

Some basic parking lot paintings include the Handicapped only, Strictly for Employees’ Only, Free Parking, Reserved Parking, Parking for people working in specific stores or offices only, Parking for Two wheeler’s, Parking for Four wheeler’s and sometimes give out instructions on where not to park.

Traffic sign installation – Sign boards for safe driving

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Ever since the dawn of civilization, people have been accustomed to following rules and being on the look out for signs to guide them. This applies to every aspect of life, be it while taking up a course to study or while moving around the city. So today, when almost every individual has a vehicle, either a car or a bike, they drive based on the traffic rules. It is therefore very important to have appropriate Traffic sign installation done for smooth flow of traffic. There must be adequate sign boards in every corner or near a junction to direct people towards their destination.

The Traffic sign installation is done as the roads are laid and they must indicate clearly the instructions. There are No parking signs which we see near the side walk in certain areas, which means we should not park our vehicles in that zone, if we overlook and park, our vehicle will get towed away. Similarly, a yellow rhombus with arrows in it could indicate which direction to turn to and so on. This is why drivers are taught to read signs when they apply for their license, so they can follow them later on.

Traffic sign installation – Drive with no worries

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

When driving on the road we see traffic signs denoting the speed breakers ahead or U turn permitted or where the road just curves and doesn’t really turn. For a person who is in the driver’s seat, they will know what these signs mean, and so shall be able to navigate better. Traffic sign installation is no doubt a tedious process, but it must be put in place to avoid unnecessary accidents and collisions and making sure roads don’t get congested. This is one method of giving people a fore warning on what to expect in the next 10 yards or more.

Especially while going on long drives or a road trip, one will need the guidance of these Traffic signs to lead them towards their destination or help them locate a hotel or motel. Regular maintenance of these signs is necessary because otherwise, the paint could fade away or the board would be broken and this will not help anyone. Traffic sign installation is the process of creating, installing and helping the millions of drivers using the roads to drive safely. Also, to keep them informed of what the rules for their safety and for driving in that area are.

Parking lot striping – Visible from a distance for smooth entry

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

In a crowded street filled with shops, there will usually be one particular area reserved for parking. In fact, this concept is applicable in huge shopping malls and in cinema theaters as a way to handle the heavy inflow of traffic. The vehicles parked will have to follow the parking lot striping that has been carried out to allow for others also to park. The arduous task of painting the parking lots is done with accurate measurements that have been pre-approved. This is the only way to maintain harmony in the parking lot and allow each vehicle to have its space. If a vehicle is parked out of order, it will lead to chaos and the neighboring cars will have space issues while parking his car.

In case of parking lot striping, care should be taken to make sure that the marking is visible and if it seems to be fading away, another coat must be applied instantly. Some parking lots have double lines and numbers in them to let the vehicle owner know the location of where his car is parked. This can also be seen in large malls where there are symbols, names used to distinguish the parking area.

Wheel stops –Durable and worth it.

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

As you are pulling into a parking space, if your tire hits on something that stops it from going forward, you should know that there are wheel stops in place. These are used to give the driver an indication that this is as far as he can go and he needs to shut off the engine now. In some parking lots, there might be one long stopper in place whereas in others there would be multiple stops in place.  I  fact, each parking lot will have an individual stop at the end of the parking space to stop vehicles.

The wheel stops are made using either plastic or rubber and so are of a good quality. Some companies even offer guarantee on these products so that if it wears out, you will get a free replacement. The other variety are the ones constructed using concrete, and these are preferred in large malls because the number of stops required would be numerous and maintaining them would become a hassle if it is made of any other material. These can be drilled into the ground and can withstand any amount of weight pushed against it and require little or no maintenance at all.
