Truncated Domes and You

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Truncated Domes are one of the many services that general contractors and asphalt professionals are having to deal with. Often times, they are looking for companies that can get them done to avoid the headaches of installing it themselves. Truncated Domes also known as Detectable Warning Mats are a rubber tile or mat that is placed in specific areas of a parking lot to warn visually impaired people before they enter into a flow of traffic. If you need Truncated domes installed, give us a call at 800-603-1116.

What Are Detectable Warning Mats?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

When more and more people are starting to slow down and to take a look around, we are noticing things. There have been a number of people recently, who have been heard to look down on detectable warning mats at their favorite store, which have been there for awhile, and who have suddenly started to wonder what they were. Are we starting to slow down and look around due to the economy being on the shaky ground that it’s on, or is there another reason why we’re slowing down?

Regardless as to why we’re slowing down and finally glancing around, the simple fact is that we are. Many people are noticing detectable warning mats and are curious about what they are and how they work. Detectable warning mats are mats that are placed at a business which help a person who is visually impaired to figure out that there is a change in pavement coming on. This way they can be prepared for heavier traffic or for a different feeling beneath their feet, greatly helping them to maneuver around. If you own a business and do not yet have a detectable warning mat, or a truncated dome, you may want to look into getting one.

Do Truncated Domes Need to be Brightly Colored?

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Is it really necessary to have truncated domes painted bright yellow? After all, they are mainly designed to help those who are unable to see or have limited visibility. Some businesses wonder if it’s really necessary to paint the truncated domes yellow, or if any other color can be used, perhaps a color that will match the outside of the company and the building or a color that will blend in better with the pavement or sidewalk.

While it’s not necessary to have truncated domes painted bright yellow, it is a good idea to have them painted a bright color. Truncated domes are meant for the disabled, but they are also in sight of those who can see as well. Painting truncated domes a bright color makes them easier to spot and makes it easier for those who are walking to not trip over the bumps of the domes. And those who have a harder time seeing, but who can still see are better able to see visual cues are often able to see brighter colors easier than they are able to see those that blend in, making getting a brightly colored truncated dome a very good idea.

Should You Wait for a Line Striping Company to Contact You?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

If you own a business, there are a lot of balls that you need to keep juggling at all times. You need to know how much inventory that you have to keep and how to make your business successful. Sometimes things slip through the cracks, such as parking lot striping and updating your parking lot using truncated domes. Some business owners wait for parking lot striping companies to contact them in order to get the work done, figuring that one company is as good as any other. The truth, however, is that they’re not.

A parking lot striping company that is contacting you is actively looking for work, which means that they may be just beginning in the parking lot industry. A parking lot striping company that is established, however, often has enough clients to not have to worry as much about trying to find work. If you wait for a company to contact you in order to insert your truncated domes or to get your striping done, you risk having to pay a much higher price for your parking lot striping and having it done by a less experienced crew then if you actively hire a company yourself.

Truncated Domes and Tax Write-Off’s

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

If you’re like the rest of us, you probably are concerned with spending money right now. Let’s face it: the economy is not in a very good place and it makes sense to be a bit wary about spending money on things that you don’t believe you need done. This is one reason that many people are holding off on getting parking lot striping done or in getting truncated domes. The thing is, however, that you can not only get these things done to make sure that they look good, you can also get them done and use them as a tax right off.

If you have a business that has a parking lot, you need to have parking lot striping that looks good and is done correctly. You should also have truncated domes to help those who are visually impaired. When you put these both in at the same time, you should be able to claim it as a tax write off, and at a time like this it is a very good idea to get as many tax write off’s as you possibly can for your business!

Curb Painting Only LOOKS Easy…

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Curb painting looks easy, right? You just buy some stencils, a few cans of spray paint and go at it. The problem, however, is that there are specific requirements that have to be met and upheld. Those who violate the terms can find themselves in a great deal of trouble. It’s like putting in truncated domes: it looks easy and simple  like something anyone can do, but there is much more to it.

Like truncated domes, curb painting needs to be done by a professional. A professional will know exactly what should be done and where everything should be placed in your area. They will know what type of paint should be used and what colors will be best seen from the road. They will also know all of the rules in the area and will make sure that they get things correct for you the first time. Remember: if you try to paint the curb by yourself and make a mistake, it’s almost impossible to fix it without having it look absolutely horrible.

Monday, August 25th, 2008

With the Olympics just finishing up, many people are trying to figure out how they can make the world a better place. They are trying to have the spirit of the Olympics, which is to share brotherly love and to be as equal as possible. One way that you can bring the spirit of the Olympics to your business is to make it even more friendly for those visitors you may have who are differently able than the rest of us. Truncated domes and warning mats are great, inexpensive ways to allow those who can’t see to have an easier time on your property than they may have otherwise.

Truncated domes are a changing of the pavement, and are designed to allow those who have a hard time seeing, or who are totally blind, to be able to see with their feet. They are a great way to changing the pavement and can be an excellent change to make in your business. While you’re at it, why not change your parking lot striping and freshen it up a bit? It will last for years and will make a definite impact on your property.
